This is our most productive soup bean. Each plant produces large clusters of beans. The compact habit and ease of harvest was one of the best of our accidental discoveries about 10 years ago. Ripens fairly early in August. The flavor is very good with this selection and is not your average dry bean having a very smooth texture. Originally obtained from a collector and breeder who maintained this strain in its original form.

Dry beans are more practical to grow if there is varieties like this one with compact plants and heavy production. The seeds pop right out of the shells once dried. Plant each seed 6 inches apart and 1/2 inch deep in late spring after frosts. |
