Large Shrub Rose with Small Hips
An excellent species rose due to its prolific flowering and fruiting. Does not sucker and over 90% of the seed are empty, so the chance of introducing it where you don't want it is small. Similar in flower and fruit to multiflora rose, only more compact with larger pink-tinged flowers. Flowers have a nice flavor but the fruits are too small to eat fresh but man vs. wild could do it. The fruits remain on all winter in good condition. The canes on this species like multiflora rose help give cover to birds and mammals. Studies have confirmed the highest wildlife ‘hits’ with a row of these. Completely disease-free. Vigorous growing with large spreading canes up to 8 ft. across. Can be pruned flat after they become less productive. Seed collected in the mountains in Korea from an unknown species rose. Height to 3-6ft.
