Dwarf American Hazelnut

Pot, 3-6" DAHA_3-6 $9.20 Out of stock
Small Compact Plant-Dense Runner Producer Ecos

This seed selection was created using plants that fruit on 1-2 ft. plants and spread profusely by runners. After 15 years plant height runs between 2 -3 ft. tall. Small profuse catkins adorn the stems in winter. Small nuts are produced in profusion in September. These were selected based on the plants overall height and runner production making it easier to reproduce clonal by root division rather than seed. Plants produce most of their energy into runners. This selection is one of the easiest to clone. Each American Hazelnut has a different form and this one has the highest rate of stolons per plant than any we have found.  Like our Nana beach plum this selection appears to come true from seed. Nut production is not as high as the Ecos though.  Kind of a good find in the hazelnut world. Hardy to -30 F.  Cannot ship to OR,WA
