Reliable Fruit Producer-Disease Free
Specifically collected from trees with good fruit production in the rocky Keweenaw Peninsula in the upper peninsula of Michigan. We created a small planting of these about 25 years ago and have enjoyed the delicious small to medium sized reddish purple fruits. Keweenaw produces multi-trunk trees to 20 ft. that are extremely durable and fruitful even with late frosts. The fruit rarely develops fungal diseases. Our largest most productive tree serviceberry is Keweenaw. The parent tree was standard apple tree in size. In the middle of July these ripen from red to blue and have the perfect balance of sweet and tart.
