Wild Michigan Selection-Long Thin Tubers-Good Flavor-Easy to Clean
Found as a chance seedling along a stream in central Michigan, Shiawassee has no knobs and is easy to clean. Carrot like in structure, flavor is quite good in the spring with little piney aftertaste. Yields have been better with this selection than White Fuseau. Height to 8 ft. Flowers and fruits early. This one does not spread quite as fast as say Pink Crispy and is easy to harvest by pulling out the tubers which grow shallow just under the soil's surface. This is a good one for backyard cultivation. (Ships dormant in spring and fall from Oct. to Dec.and again March to May.)
