Best-known hickory due to its delicious nuts with excellent flavor and shaggy bark. Young trees have an open oval-shaped crown and start branching after 6 ft tall. Easy to establish young plants with tree shelters and/or use root pruned potted trees. Nut production begins in 20-30 years. Relax. Distributed into Maine and Canada by the Native Americans. Height to 70 ft. or more with a 40-60 ft.width.
