This was from a seedling selection found as a chance seedling from a grow out of Russet apple seedlings where the seedling had crossed with a crabapple of some type with yellow fruit. The yields are by far greater than any apple at our farm where the weight of the fruit bends the tree over. The fruit hangs on into December. The highly astringent fruit is a bright yellow color with a very waxy skin.
To germinate the seed follow the apple seed directions: Moist media 90-120 days in cold refrigeration. Seeds will sprout starting in 90 days. Put the seeds at room temperature and plant outside or as they sprout plant one at a time in pots.

This is a good source for heavy producing crabapples that are larger in size up to 1 inch in size. This tree is next to our red fleshed Russian crabapple Malus pumila and may be pollenated by that tree. |
